Our Organic Ceremonial Matcha is sourced from the tranquil tea fields of Kagoshima, a key area within the renowned tea-growing region known for producing Japan's finest matcha. Ceremonial grade matcha stands as a premium product, distinguished by its superior quality and delicate flavour, crafted for traditional tea ceremonies.
This highest quality matcha is made from the youngest, most tender tea leaves from the first flush of spring. These leaves are picked from shade-grown tea plants, which enhances chlorophyll levels and amino acids, resulting in a vibrant green colour and a smoother flavour. The leaves are very carefully processed to preserve their colour, aroma, and flavour. They are meticulously destemmed and deveined before grinding, and stone mills are used at a slow pace to avoid overheating, which preserves the delicate flavours.
This grade is best enjoyed whisked with hot water, consumed directly to fully appreciate its flavour. It is meant to be sipped plain, allowing one to savour its full range of subtle complexities.
Taste: A rich, smooth, and delicate umami-rich flavour with a slight natural sweetness and almost no bitterness. The taste is refined, often described as creamy or buttery.
Organic Loose Leaf Hojicha

Hojicha, a roasted green tea, remains a hidden gem outside of Japan, despite its widespread popularity within the country. Our mission is to rectify this oversight and introduce as many people as possible to its unforgettable flavour.
Hojicha is crafted from green tea leaves that are carefully roasted at high temperatures. This unique process not only alters the leaves to a reddish-brown hue but also enhances their flavour, transforming the natural grassiness of green tea into a mellow, slightly caramel-like taste. The roasting imparts a soothing, earthy aroma that invites relaxation. Unlike the fresh, vegetal notes of typical green teas, Hojicha offers a richer, toasty flavour. This depth comes from the late-season harvesting of the leaves, which are more mature and imbued with a deeper flavour. The high heat used during roasting brings out a toasty sweetness that's distinctly different from other green teas, making Hojicha a unique variety in the world of Japanese teas.
With significantly reduced caffeine due to the roasting process, our Hojicha is ideal for evening consumption. It provides a calming experience, perfect for unwinding after a long day. The lower caffeine content, combined with L-Theanine, promotes relaxation without disrupting sleep, making it a favoured after-dinner tea in Japan.
